Lemon Angel (2020)

(島えりか)
This Lemon Angel blog was disbanded a long time ago. But I think it is time for a final 2020 update. I used to have a popular Midnight Lemon Angel blog on Tumblr, a few decades later Tumblr put in these new rules in which adult related content or anything kinky was no longer welcome. So I shut down the website.
(レモンエンジェル)
This site here and the original one of Tumblr got a lot of attention at the time. If you were to type in [https://midnight-lemon-angel-1980s.tumblr.com/] in Google you will see a few archived pages. Any media attention the blog got back then, no longer seems to be online. It has been several years.

There will be a lot of information about Erika Okushima, but you will have to look below. As of 2018, she has became very active on social media. Even going to the length of opening up her own Lemon Angel fan-club. But don't jump up too soon, if you are not Japanese, it's not for you. As she had made it clear - no foreigners.

Erika actually has actually came across all of the information provided, and she comments on the said "rivalry" and gives comment on what she believes is an Internet hoax. She's currently working with Studio Hanahou.

The most recent reference to Lemon Angel was Hakoiri Musume paying them tribute by covering Lemon Angel's cover of Bananarama's "Love in the First Degree."

There won't be any Lemon Angel reunion. But Tomo actually talked about Lemon Angel in 2019. Tomo Sakurai is Tomo Satoshi now, and goes by the name Satoshi Sakurai.
Like Erika, she also opened up a new YouTube channel and at 5:21, she talks about Lemon Angel, several decades later. This is the closest you will get to a Lemon Angel reunion.
(櫻井 智)
Tomo Sakurai retired from show business in 2016, but has since returned to the entertainment industry as of June 2019. She spent her retirement working at a noodle shop.

The only reason why Tomo retired from voice-over, as she is a voice actress for cartoons, was because it became difficult to use her voice.

There is no information on Miki. Last heard of her, she was a photographer. But she is still in contact with Erika. Look below to see all of Erika's responses.
Erika responding to the big Lemon Angel "feud" that happened in 1990. She laughs and says she doesn't know what each of the girls thought personally. What she doesn't realise is, the information given of the "break-up" was actually in books.
Erika talking about how much of Lemon Angel comes up. Well it has been several years. To think she only just saw it trending several years later.

Erika Shima talking about her "secret" Lemon Angel fan community.
Erika interested to learn that there were "Lemon Angel" projects or a project after the original.
Erika Shima telling fans that her group was getting too many requests from foreigners and that she only wanted to connect with old fans.
Erika talking about foreigners, and how she will not accept them or people who have not met her. Well to be honest, it was thought that she could speak and read English, turns out she is not able to. So non-Japanese fans would probably get on her nerves.
Erika asking if someone called Lemon Angel "Lemon", was he a fan of Lemon Angel at the time, or only her who thinks that!?

Erika learning that Tomo covered her song "Anniversary."
It was Tokyo Rose 88's "anniversary" in 2018.
Erika speaking how her secret Lemon Angel fan club was coming along.
Erika was upset that the Japanese Wikipedia listed her solo song for Tomo's.
But soon after she was sad, someone fixed it for her.
Erika talking about how famous Tomo is.
Erika took a photo with a "Witch" friend. People thought it was Miki, turns out it was not Miki.
I wish all of Lemon Angel the best. This blog is not going to be updated anymore. Erika Shima is "allowing" Lemon Angel to live on but only for those who supported her back during the 80's in Japan. If you wasn't there, you are not welcome. Specially if you do not speak Japanese. So if anyone has a sudden interest in Lemon Angel, ensure you don't overstep boundaries.

And as said Erika runs a special group for Japanese fans, that special secret group also features old staff members and fans of the series.

Lemon Angel's Cameo in Project A-ko Cinderella Rhapsody (1988)

Lemon Angel Cameo (1988)

Lemon Angel make a small cameo in Project A-ko 3 near to the end of the film, where they are featured in the movies.  In the official Japanese version Lemon Angel are voiced by themselves (Tomo Sakurai, Erika Shima and Miki Emoto.)

In the English dubbed version the characters voices are dubbed by 3 of the female cast Cathy Weseluck, Lynda Boyd and  Venus Terzo, basically the same people who do
the main casts voices in the Anime, as most voice-over artists are versatile.

Miki Ito & Miki Emoto?

A-ko, B-ko and C-ko

The IMDB (Internet Movie Database) confuses Miki Ito and Miki Emoto's roles so it might confuse some people, but i will and shall correct them by blogging the correct information on my blog.
Miki Ito was part of the main cast, Miki Emoto (Lemon Angel) makes a cameo in the film as herself. Miki Ito is the voice of A-ko in the Japanese original version of the film franchise.

So what basically happens is Miki Emoto wants to have her way with Erika Okushima (Lesbianism), something that never happens in Lemon Angel's series as in the Lemon angel series
none of the girls find each other attractive, they are usually attracted to men and men only.

To be honest that mostly happened in the second generation of Lemon Angel
featured in the Manga.  Also to point out they seem to be in some kind of future world, usually they fantasize but this time they are featured in the cinema, which seems to porn-like, they are assumed to be sex-symbols of some sort.  I am surprised they were not featured as singers, and the weird thing is they were a girl group back then and even though they made a cameo in the film, they never did any music for it.

Instead You hear the vocals of Michie Tomizawa best known as the original
voice of Sailormars in Sailormoon, which is why most SM fans seem to flock to the Project A-ko series, as she portrays C-ko.

There are three main characters in the Anime,  A-ko, B-ko and C-ko.  All three characters have similar names, the Anime is very funny and is unique.

So Miki throws Erika on the bed and Erika ask's her what she is going to do to her.

Miki tells her to be quiet, all the men in the audience slobber over Erika.  Erika screams at Miki not to touch her.

Tomo Sakurai butts in saying sorry and tells the men who are watching the movie that an emergency has taken place, and that the film currently taking place has been stopped.
Which means the film featuring Lemon Angel in the film must be filmed live.

All three of Lemon Angel tells everyone in the audience to vocalize, then the film moves back to all the fighting action scenes which features loads of smashing, and things breaking.

Lemon Angel English Translation?

Lemon Angel English Subs?

I really think we need a English translation of Midnight Lemon Angel, so i'm going to attempt to translate a few episodes all by myself in WMM which i might add is the "worst" but it'll have to do.  I'm a little "lost" in translation so everything might have to be re-worded.

(Oh, how i hate Windows Movie Maker, but it'll have to do)

Example:

Tomo Sakurai: But do not studying or playing watch our program!

(Yes, this just doesn't sound right...)

Re-worded by me:

Tomo Sakurai:  Do not study or play watch our program!

Young Lemon Angel (レモンエンジェル)

Young Lemon Angel

Here are some photographs of Lemon Angel when they were younger.

Erika Okushima/Shima
You'd probably never guess that this was Erika Okushima what a lil cutie.

Miki Emoto/Okushima/Mikiko Emoto

It seem's Miki has had short hair most of her life, if you get the pun.

Tomo Sakurai/Tomoe Hatta

Yes, Tomo has been rocking those pig-tails since she was a lil girl.

Lemon Angel Theme

Theme of Lemon Angel

The Theme of Lemon Angel is the main theme of the group recorded by Miki, Erika and Tomo.  The song is also used for the opening of the Anime.   In the official video the girls can be seen wandering around Japan, doing aerobics, eating at a bakery, riding bicycles, and recording the actual song in a booth and eating crepes, the film ends with Tomo, Miki and Erika using a video recorder to record one another then all three begin to lip sync to the music.

Angel Fish

Angel Fish

Angel Fish was a song released by Lemon Angel in 1989 and was featured on the album Lemon Angel 3rd, it features vocals from all three members , Miki, Erika and Tomo.  In the official video you see Tomo, Miki and Erika at a water theme park, swimming and splashing under the waves and also riding various attractions.  Whilst singing they repeat the word "Fishu" instead of Fish... it's a good thing they didn't choose Sakana as it doesn't go well with Lemon.
